Red Lion Mansions

The Red Lion Mansion is a wonderful Clipsham Limestone building sat in Red Lion Square, Stamford. Stamford, “The town built of stone”, has many such great structures and this is one of which Stone Edge’s stonemasons were lucky enough to work on.

The building had suffered impact damage to first floor cornice sections from high-sided vehicles manoeuvering down the very narrow street and was in need of restoration. All damaged Clipsham cornices were detailed and replaced.

The works include/involved:

• Replacement of impact damaged cornices
• New lead work weathering’s to all cornices
• New stoneworks, indents to facades in various locations
• Repair of Collywestern roofing shingles
• Partial take down and re-build of chimney stacks
