Stone Edge was appointed as the specialist heritage contractor on a major scheme to convert the former hospital to a new superstore. The Grade II listed brick building needed sensitive conservation.
One large wing was demolished, with its brick façade taken down and rebuilt in a new position within the remaining structure.
Stone Edge was involved at the early stages, carrying out surveys of the fabric and providing advice to the professional team. The building was in an extremely poor condition, requiring structural stabilisation, rebuilding and repair.
